Name: Carole Snow (Wefler) I got married, but continue to respond to my nickname “Snow”.
Cautions: I embody many Wanda Jackson tunes.
Occupation: I work under the marvelous umbrella 137 Films where we make independent science programming. Currently I serve as an associate producer on The Experiment which follows the 1989 University of Utah cold fusion controversy. Sometimes I wear Ray Bans while shooting in the American desert and holding a clipboard. This pleases me.
To keep up with the kids, I contract for the Northwestern University Advanced Media Production Studio. Sometimes I operate a camera for the Big 10 Network and sometimes I make very pristine lines of gaff tape for uncoordinated audience members who may fancy tripping on our maze of xlr cables.
I have other adventures as a freelancer that have found me filming mountain sports and fried chicken commercials. My current side venture is a little collective we call RealLab which is churning out great independent programming as I type this, stay tuned– you’ll like us.
Past adventures include serving on the board at Chicago Short Film Brigade where Xan keeps the cozy coming; and communication jobs running the line between photojournalist, newspaper editor/designer, architecture and radio. I like sights and sounds.
Hobbies: When not obsessing about cartoons, books, movies and music (like everyone else) I enjoy winter sports and plan on dominating everyone of you in the next ice age. I also enjoy illustration, particularly maintaining nature sketches in the stylings of Aldo Leopold. Last but not least, guacamole. I just really, really like guacamole.
Favorite Movies: Badlands, There Will Be Blood, King Corn, Fargo
Favorite Music: Danielson, Magnetic Fields, Joy Division, Fiery Furnaces– lots of electronica fused compositions with elementary school instrumentation. (Snares, triangles, xylophones!)
Favorite Books: Seven Storey Mountain, Desert Solitaire, Everything that Rises Must Converge, The Death of Ivan Ilyich, O Pioneers!
Mottos/Mantras: “Don’t worry, I’ve never heard of me either.”
