About 10 years ago– I had a sweetheart. We attended a theological school together in the Appalachian foothills. His name was Tim. We liked catching movies and catching fish. Small town boy, southern drawl, sweet tea with lunch. Fantastic writer, fantastic illustrator.
Today in 2006 Tim departed, traveling through for better things. He believes in heaven. We were so far out of touch, I only found out about his death a few months ago.
I sent along a manuscript of his I had held on to and his mother wrote and told me lots of things about the adult Tim I never got to know. Marriage, jobs– houses– he became a builder. I think to illustrate the kind of folks Tim and his family are– his mom assured me there were “man flowers” in his honor. I’m a firm believer in man flowers.
Where’s your best buddy?
He’s roaming the planet
Moving in tandem and then settling down…
…Dissapearing in stages makes no sound at all.
